The most recent thrillers released tend to be of the age rating 15 and despite the certificate still manage to draw in great numbers in terms of takings at the box office. The certificate perhaps doesn't correlate with the audience figures as the PG film 'Bridge of Spies' appears to have been successful at the box office as well as its 15 rated competitors of the thriller genre.
You also have to take into account the money and advertising pumped into each production, immediately it is clear some films are more recogniseable than others, The Revenant being the clear front runner in terms of hype that has been built around it, whereas the other end of the spectrum you get productions such as 'Son Of Saul'

Judging by the age ratings of the most successful thrillers i think that 15 would be a suitable certificate to give to our film. We aren't limited by the content we can include, and the content we will be likely to include wouldn't supposedly be suitable for and age groups beneath the certificate. Having this certificate will allow us to be flexible with the themes and messages we put across in our opening and will ensure that we wont have to compromise ourselves in order to cater to a certain certificate or age bracket.
